What's going on with the new tags being added to the subject
lines with "gg" or an extra ""?

Just curious.

ObFood: George's Eggplant Caponata (freezable)

Serve as an antipasto, with pasta, over an omelet, or just
chilled as a sidedish.

¼ cup olive oil
2 chopped onions
1 lb diced eggplant
4 or 5 chopped tomatoes
2 stalks of celery, chopped
2 Tbs capers
½ cup chopped green olives
2 Tbs wine vinegar
2 Tbs lemon juice
2 Tsp honey

Start with the oil and onion and then the eggplant and tomato
and cook
for 30 minutes. Stir it occasionally. Then put everything else
in and
cook for 10 more minutes. Chill and serve, serve hot if
desired. Chill
and freeze.

If you don't have capers put in more olives. I often find
capers heavily discounted at Big Lots because most cooks around
here
don't know what they are. I generally buy a couple of large
bottles. If
you don't have lemons use more vinegar. Often you need to add a
hit of
vinegar after thawing the frozen version to pep up the taste.

I often double or triple the recipe to make enough to freeze at
one
time. For two people I put it in quart freezer containers
although
pints would make more sense for two. Once frozen I then dump it
into a
vac bag and seal it, last longer in the freezer without
degrading that
way.

I've noticed those, too. Naturally, here it raises the red
Google Groper flag, and I can't think of anything else it
might stand for in context; but I don't know its origin or
reason for being.

I thought of Gooja Groper, too, but then there are some "gm,"
"gi," and (I think) "gn" thrown in to muck that up.

I'm getting them in email but in the body of the email. The subject line
is empty which of course shows that it is spam. For some reason I can't
kf an empty subject line in XNews, or don't know how but I did filter out

One simple way that would probably be good enough would be to filter with
a Subject header negation on [a-zA-Z]. (Does not contain any letters.)
While that's not the same as "does not contain anything", how many posts
with no letters in that header are of interest to you?

You *can* filter on "contains nothing", but I can't remember right now
which flavor of regex Xnews uses. So for that, pop into
news.software.readers -- it's one of my "home" groups, and its the de
facto support group for Xnews. Great bunch, and a lot of wizardly
Xnewsers. You'll get good answers there.

Thanks for the info. I suffered a brain fart in my original post though.
I use Eudora as a mail client but I'm looking for a new one. Xnews is my

Might look at Thunderbird. It's only so-so as a news client (and is
pretty brain-dead with respect to filtering - it can't natively filter
Google Gropers, for instance), but it's a good email client.

news reader. I'll pop into nsr and see what it looks like over there.

Drop my name there.

i am responsible for the 'gg' and 'gm' tags, as i have been flagging
gmail posters and those with googlegroups in the message-id. i don't
know if the ' ' is me or not. i didn't realize the tags would
be carried forward in my replies.

i think i will end this, as sqwertz has provided a comprehensive list
of those posters.

again, i apologize.

Oh sure. Cause a big stink and then try to apologize... Uh-huh...

Michael

well, i've apologized twice now, and apologies are usually one to a
customer.

i am wearing a stylishly tailored hair shirt, though.

I haven't complained (and have no reason to), but I want an apology
anyway - since you're doling them out one to a customer.

i am deeply, profoundly sorry. words cannot express the depth of my
remorse. when i think of the disruption and pain i have caused my
family and friends, i am distraught to the point of not being able to
sleep in the afternoon.

WTFH is this?! She isn't current with her dues and (unless she slipped
you a little something under the table on the QT) thus isn't deserving
of such unmitigated simpering!

Repent thine repentance!

laugh You must be *very* good at apologizing to your GF when she's
PMSing and you can do nothing right.
