Default Toasted and roasted

What is the difference between toasted and roasted? My Spanish coffee
beans are toasted (tostado) not roasted (asado), according to the
packet. Obviously this is just a linguistic difference, but why aren't
English-speaking beans toasted too? (Of course Spanish beans are
milled (molido) not ground, so maybe they just HAVE to be different!)

I suspect it's all semantics.

No, Margaret, you are quite right. However, I doubt that coffee beans
would just be toasted on the outside, as the inside would still be "green"
and not very palatable as brewed coffee. I think in this case it's just
the choice of words and that the beans (from a US frame of reference) are
indeed roasted.

I still say you're right. One doesn't brew coffee from beans that are
still green on the inside.

When you get an answer from those beans from Vienna, do tell us what they
have to say. ;-)
