My Games magazine arrived and there is an old photo on the
cover. I'm supposed to guess where the photo was taken, but
that's neither here nor there. Here's what is says, I laughed out
loud:

TOBACCO

The use of tobacco, in any form, is a dirty, filthy, disgusting,
degrading habit. No gentleman will use tobacco in this city.

You have no more right to pollute with tobacco smoke, the
atmosphere which clean people have to breathe, than you
have to spit in the water which they have to drink.

CUT IT OUT, YOU FOOL.

Before you reap smoker's cancer paralysis or one of the
many other diseases caused by the use of the filthy, nasty,
stinking stuff!

Nobody ever mentions TRUCKS!; I can't get from here to there without being
caught in a 'train' of trucks.
What mileage per gallon do they get and the exhaust is nauseating (sp?)
Nobody ever mentions recreational RV's. They are on the road going back and
forth Canada to Florida. What mileage per gallon do they get. A good
incentive to not tailgate. Who wants to breath all these fumes.

I often wonder when I see people walking around the miltiary academy track
near here; women with baby carts, walking and talking while the cars whiz by
exhausting their fumes. I tried it once and gagged.

I had a trail backhoed around my yard; is there anyway you can get far
enough away with your bike away from this and just take a nice clean walk?

In the Philly area we have 40 miles of bike paths running along the river.
Most are far from car exhaust and factory smokestacks (except for the 1/4
mile that runs by the sewage treatment plant - phewwwww!).

They could use a good carbon filter. (We had a problem at our house, and
that cleared it right up. Who would've thunk it.)

I wish I could...

I've never been a smoker, but I can understand addiction.

I dealt for many years with sugar and starch addiction.
It's even harder to quit as it does not offend people, unless they have
an aversion to fat people.

I started to write trucks but changed it to SUV's. We need a
certain amount of trucks to bring out food and other supplies to
market. There are relatively few people that need their SUV's
and cars to get to work or run all sorts of poorly planned
errands - 1 person to a car.

A 'certain' amount of trucks -- I don't think there will be any change in
the 'way' food is brought to market any sooner than there will be a limit on
SUV's.

Nowadays, don't they wear the horse diapers, at least in some cities?
Or is that their oat bag tied to the other end?

I thought those were "modesty cloths," left over from when John
Ashcroft used to be our governor (Missouri).

I hate trucks and battle them all the way to work in my car - which I DO
need to get me to my work and also to these poorly planned errands. I do
remind myself of the food and other stuff that's being delivered in those
trucks - helps a little bit, but not a lot!! e.

LOL At least they did not cost 8K, like the drapes that covered the
statue during Ashcroft's press conferences. Nobody knows how to waste
money like the gubmint.

I have seen something new in the trucking industry lately. We have a pretty
busy train track behind our place. I see a lot of semi trailers now hooked
up to rail type wheels and being pulled like any other box car. We get one
by about every 30 minutes during a normal day.

I had a friend who prided himself on being apolitical. I'd always try
to get him to vote, but the thing that did it was that he tried to buy
a bottle of wine on a Sunday. Ashcroft had repeatedly vetoed the
repeal of the Blue Laws, banning Sunday alcohol sales. When he was
replaced by a Democratic governor (Mel Carnahan), my friend was soon
able to buy wine on Sunday. Eventually, Mel Carnahan ran against
Ashcroft for Ashcroft's Senate seat. Carnahan died a few weeks before
the election, but his name remained on the ballot, and our state's new
Democratic governor promised to appoint his wife to the seat if Mel
won the race.
Well, Ashcroft lost to a dead man, and one of those votes was my
buddy's. Soon after, Bush made him Attorney General. Now, my friend
always votes.
