Default OT: Hey buddy? Can ya spare $300,000,000?

Megamillions is tonight.

$330,000,000 grand prize.

I shall cross the Delaware river into New Jersey for a couple chances.

Hopefully I'll be hosting "The Longest Lunch" on my new island in the tropics
for the membership.

Good luck,

Andy

I'm safely back in Pennsylvania. $5 for tonight's drawing and $5 for next
Tuesday's drawing. Why pay gas and bridge tolls twice if it rolls over again?

Good luck,

Andy

Aww, thanks Nancy. That's very kind of you!

I actually enjoy the drive to Gibbstown. I don't often leave my 5-mile
radius world and it's only 30 minutes away if I obey the speed limits.

As Ben Bailey (Ca$h Cab) would ask, "Are you in?"

No, if I find myself where they sell tickets, maybe I'll pick one up.
A way to use up my extra money.

I thought someone won that last weekend, or was that another lottery?
I figure it this way — I don't buy lottery tickets. After a million
weeks, I will have saved a million dollars.

That's OK, you're still invited to "The Longest Lunch," should my island come
in!

So far this year I probably have about $30 in extra money (change) in an
apothecary jar and a few bucks in the cup holder in the car.

Wow, Gibbstown! I haven't heard that name in a long time. When I was
very young my father was a terminal manager for a trucking company in
Gibbstown. I remember taking the ferry across to visit family in
Pennsylvania in those days, but they've built a bridge and ferry is
gone now. I think it was called the Chester/Bridgeport ferry.

Is it still like the middle of nowhere? So close to Philly, yet
a different world.

Bill,

Yes, it is a very quiet and empty town. I am very careful to observe the
speed limits through town.

I never knew about the ferry. The Commodore Barry bridge has been there
since I moved to Philly in 1991.

I lived in that area only until about 1965. I know the ferry was gone
by the late 1970s, but I'm pretty sure it was still there in the early '70s.

Yep, I did a little web search and found pictures of the ferry in operation
with the bridge under construction in 1973. The ferry shut down when the
bridge opened in 1974.

Bill,

Thanks for the link! In the last picture, I couldn't help but notice (I
think) a 1967 VW Beetle). My old ride!

You got me to thinking. In Gibbstown, On Rte. 44, just over the railroad
bridge on the south side, into town, I see trains that have been there for
awhile. Is that the location where your Pop commanded loading up the trucks
with rail deliveries?

If you have GoogleEarth on your 'puter, you can take a recent peek at
Gibbstown.

All the best,

Andy

No, he worked for a tank truck company that specialized in chemicals. The
terminal there was just a place to park and repair the trucks which travelled
to and from various chemical plants. If I remember correctly, it was just
a big flat lot with a building with repair and wash bays for the trucks and
across the street was a field of asparagus. No train tracks nearby that I
remember, but it's been a long time. It was on the outskirts with nothing
else around but woods and fields then.

You have GoogleEarth?

If not visit http://earth.google.com/

It's free and powerful software! I've mapped my entire life places (up to
this point) with satellite imagery and can travel through it in a movie.
