G Yes, I've done that a few times... but then realized it didn't help the deer, just drove them through the woods to the next road, with more hunters. The only way you are going to keep your deer from being hunted is to purchase adjacent property, post it and deer fence it. And provide them with feed when their numbers get to be too high for the local environment to feed them. -- Peace, Om Remove _ to validate e-mails. A deer was shot probably very near our property, or on it because it died well 800' into our place from the posted, fenced 100 acres behind us. It was not in hunting season. You don't think I raised hell -- to no avail. We wear bright orange hats outside all during hunting season. Probably should wear them year-around. They do feed in our yard, but they wander the large amount of acreage. Dee Dee |

The thing hung in the Winter sky and loomed so large and looked so intense, I almost bumped my head on it when I got out of my car. It was positively brilliant. By contrast, Haley was a mere smudge, a minor bug splat in the sky. I saw the very nice Comet Hyakutake, also. I later joined an astronomy club, but after NASA started publishing Hubble shots on the net it seemed absurd to look through a $3-5K hobbyist telescope to see a mere spec of light in the night sky when I could see these fantastic images on my computer screen. Recently, I was going to do the new google "sky" thing, but after reading the software agreement, I said screw you and went back too just visiting the NASA website. nb I didn't photograph Hale-Bopp either. We BUMS!!! A few years back for the Leonid meteor shower, in the freezing cold I went to Rose Tree park and with my night-vision monocular w/mag lenses, watched and counted them. The crowd was every so often Ooh and Ahh-ing, while I was counting as fast as blazes, into the 400s+ within an hour timeframe. It was worth freezing my toes off for! ![]() Andy |

It's supposed to be a red orb by 5:00 am Florida time tomorrow. I hope I can get my camera to focus! kili Let us know if you are able to see the eclipse. People on the West coast will not have a problem, but it may be difficult for people on the East coast to see the full eclipse. One of my friends in Utah says he may not be able to see it, because they are expecting a storm. I hate it when that happens. This should be a mirror image of the eclipse we had in March, but I was moving, so I missed it. I plan on catching it this time! BTW, I did see the Perseid meteor showers a few weeks ago, when I was in Ohio. In December I am going on a cruise to watch the Geminids. Those are my favorite meteor showers. OK, all meteor showers are my favorite. g Becca |
