Chinese paper umbrella, but a regular one will do. :-)

I see others doing it here once in awhile. Who cares if some people
stare? They will most likely be envying you!

i was under the impression it was retro-stylish.

I don't like the umbrella thing. I will do it when it is raining,
sometimes. I seldom leave the house without a hat, though, whether
raining, sunny or otherwise.

Actually, a nice broad brimmed straw hat is nice...

but that does not protect your arms.

We weeded the green house yesterday morning.
I wore a long sleeved t-shirt to protect my arms from mosquitos!

I've been looking online at umbrellas. There are silver-looking
ultra-violet-type ones that do a better job, but so most of the women shown
in the pictures are young, and their arms aren't shaded. Anything to look
stylish, I guess.
Yes, the arms are important; otherwise, I'd just continue to wear my stupid
hat and long-sleeved shirts/blouses.

Sun hats are perfectly lovely on some people, but they do not flatter me in
the least. Even my f-i-l laughs in my face when I putone on.

Paper umbrellas are inexpensive and made from paper and bamboo, but you
do have to be careful with them.

Any umbrella will do. ;-) I'd recommend a golf umbrella personally. They
are a LOT larger and easy to find.

I have this 'get-up' that I wear to walk -- a mosquito net with the round
metal ring to hold it away from your face, tucked into a long-sleeved shirt
covering my hands; socks tucked into my pants for deer ticks (yard full of
them); there are black biting knats galore. I will not show a picture of
what happens even with the knats hitting my eyes. My eyes swell shut, my
face puffs up, etc. Mosquitos and hornets a disaster!

That's why I had a trail built around so no-one has to see me. The other
day I went to the mail box at the bottom of the hill. When I heard a car
coming I moved to the side of my driveway so they wouldn't see me as they
passed, for fear I'd scare them, or they'd turn me in for being a terrorist!

Whatta sight!
Dee Dee

Oh dear. ;-)

I just use bug repellant, but I like your idea better!
You could just get a beekeepers outfit!
