Rather than grilling in the shell (which just begs for shell bits in your oyster, IMO), they shuck 'em, put them in muffin tins with butter and seasonings, then stuck them on the grill. Serve with Tabasco. snip Have fun- isn't it illegal to take the shells from the beach? I heard you were suppossed to shuck them on the beach & leave the shells for new oysters to grow in. It's a private beach and I'm not 100% sure of their policies, but I believe that is the case with most public beaches. You've got me curious, so when I'm there, I'll ask... -- Jani in WA It would suck getting in trouble on your nice weekend! Are you the one who recently bought a tent trailer? |

Unfortunately, I was still asleep when DH went to get the oysters, so I didn't get to do any picking. But he shucked them right on the beach so the shell thing was moot. I'm rather proud of him -- he's a flatland Pennsylvanian who'd never shucked an oyster in his life, and he didn't turn them into stew fodder. ;-) It would suck getting in trouble on your nice weekend! Are you the one who recently bought a tent trailer? Yup, that's me! So far, due to baseball season, we'd only been out in it twice. The first trip was to this same RV park (Rest-A-While, north of Hoodsport on Hood Canal, for those familiar with the area). I wan't able to go the first time. Our second outing was to take the trailer to my folk's house in Sequim -- we slept in it so I could try it out. I loved it! As I mentioned upthread though, I was rather ill on this last trip, so I didn't eat any oysters. But we still had a good time... -- Jani in WA |
