Kavli "hearty thick" crispbread --Product of Norway--
www.kavli.com

I took a chance and bought a box to try with cheese.

They are great! My new favorite crackers!

Great mild flavor with great crunchiness.

I wouldn't exactly call them soup OR dip crackers.

Ingredients: Whole rye flour, whole wheat flour, water, salt.
No fat, cholesterol or sugar.

The crackers don't have "break" lines, so if you're breaking them apart for a
tray, they'll break into odd shaped pieces. Probably a nice visual.

Goodbye melba-toast!!! Goodbye triscuits!!!

What are they? I can't find a good image.... are they like Wasa and
the other Scandanivian knackbrod (that I like better, but the name
escapes me now)?

Thanks, Andy... there is a thin one out that I'm not fond of. I like
the thicker ones, have you tried any of those? They take to a hunk of
cheese like nobodies business!

Kavli's fine but so are a lot of the crispbreads from Wasa and
Ryvita. I particularly like Ryvita's fruit crackers (whatever
Ryvita calls them)!

15 bucks seems a little steep for a box of crackers to me...I like
papadums 99 cents get you 25 6 inch discs. Very good with salsas, chutneys
etc...wouldn't work for cheese though too thin.

Psssst. I believe that the "15 bucks" are for a dozen (12) boxes. Of
course, perhaps they meant 12 crackers.

You seem to have found the Scandinavian cracker section of your local
market. Don't stop at Kavli. There are tons of different kinds of
crackers, some are so crisp they are only good is soup. All have far
more flavor than the bland saltiness of USAin crackers.

maxine,

I found it at a small specialty/gourmet market in PA www.afoodsource.com

I also got a small loaf of "The Baker" wheat-free, gluten free pumpernickel
(product of Germany), since I've liked pumpernickel for hor‘dourves sandwich
thingys but it was way too dense than what I'm used to and a sweeter flavor
than I like.

I'll sure try other crispbreads when I finish these.

Thanks,

Andy

Ok I stand corrected. So it's 12 boxes each of around 24 crackers, total
of around 288 crackers. Price per cracker is roughly 5.02 cents per
cracker (which ain't too bad). Still counting the shipping charges too
pricy for me. As I eat crackers and cheese so rarely 10 or 11 boxes would
be stale before I used them.

Are you sitting there and telling me that you would let the crackers get
stale and throw them out, instead of sending me half of each box?

How I misjudged you! (

Is it the really thin-sliced pumpernickel that's very moist and kind
of crumbly if you handle it roughly? That's one of my favorites!

I'll sure try other crispbreads when I finish these.

Thanks,

Rye crackers give me gas.
That's why we left Norway. :-)

Rachael will be so disappointed.
I'll not mention it to her until
she has a few Sandra Lee cocktails.
