hypocrisy, from M-W online. "1 : a feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not; especially : the false assumption of an appearance of virtue or religion Of course, Rush has never feigned not being a drug addict, and he's probably never stopped believing being a drug addict is wrong and stupid. However: I would propose that if Rush is truly not a hypocrite, he will turn himself over to the authorities to accept punishment that he himself has recommended for others. On this point you are 80% correct. So we get to find out, in 30 or so days, if he is a hypocrite. The 20% dodge is this; unless he has specifically said that drug addicts should turn themselves in, he's not a hypocrite for not turning himself in. If charges are brought he should of course submit to the legal process with full cooperation. And he will probably have to modify any statements he has made about drug addicts. Greg Zywicki I think buying prescription drugs illegally carries a nickel at the joint (bad jokes there). Jack (Bull)schidt |

Frankin does. Have you ever seen him promote his book? I guess since he calls it "satire" it's ok. Yes, and obviously you do not understand what satire is. As I said earlier I am not a fan or Rush. BUT, he is a welcome alternate to the pinko lib editorial pages of the NY Times, LA Times, etc. I give him credit for Clinton's impeachment. To bad Rush can't be credited with being honest and completely factual. Everybody's tolerance is different. I am glad your dad didn't succumb to addiction. True and I am certainly glad too. IF what Rush did under Florida law is punishable by prison time, he should go to prison. I don't know the particulars of Florida law. BUT, don't most people get probation for a "first" offense. Innocent until proven guilty right? Exactly, that is why I clearly said "IF what Rush did under Florida law is punishable by prison time, he should go to prison." I believe Rush should have a hearing by an impartial judge and jury if he is charged with any wrong-doing. |

No Jack I found that prescription drug abusers are more likely to say that they have a medical condition that requires their continued use. Cocaine and Heroin addict feel that they can handle their addition. And the problem is not with the user but with the medical profession, in that he wasn't given a enough of a prescription. He said on his show that he's addicted. Yes addicts may say that to get into a treatment program, But most really don't believe it. Most will only try to get into a treatment program when they think it will get them out of legal trouble. So I don't believe that Rush would in this case be a hypocrite, just your every day addict. 'Everyday' drug addicts don't have national radio shows where they pass judgement on other drug addicts. Jack there are many well known personalities that are addicted to drugs and some (gasp) are liberals. Jack Limbaugher PS Your side set up the most ridiculous 'punish the addict' system in the western world and now that one of your own got pinched you want to change the rules. Jack I don't know what my side is that set up a "punish the addict" system. It has been my experience that most users are sent to Rehab. It is the sellers, and his helpers that go to a penitentiary. Wrong, but you have a habit of that, don't you? He does put his spin on things. But, so do the editorial pages of the NY Times and LA Times. Of course, but unlike the NYT editors, Rush has made millions in part by telling people how evil drug abuse is, esp. when it is done illegally. According to his lawyer Roy Black Rush won't be charged with anything. That doesn't mean he's innocent; only that he has a good lawyer. |

If Bush the younger served honorably in the military than I will eat my hat. He's as much a draft dodger as Clinton. Bush never bad mouthed the United States in his youth because he was too busy getting drunk. |
