Default [Gripe] Dang Stupidmarket Meat!

My mother used to make "New England Boiled Dinner", only she used
beef short ribs rather than the traditional beef brisket. I haven't
had this for at least 20 years, so I was pleased to find some great
looking chuck short ribs at my local Fred Meyer on Monday. The "sell
by" date on the package was October 10th, so I figured they'd be
just fine for tonight's dinner. Wrong!! I took them out of the meat
drawer this afternoon, and they're green and stinky! And no, there
is nothing wrong with my refrigerator. Heck with it, we're going
out for a burger before taking Small Child to swimming class...

Maybe there is a dyslexic person in the meat department and the label should
have read "Oct. 01" instead of "Oct. 10."

Take them back to the market where you bought them. Most reputable
groceries will refund your money. Not that that does any good for
tonight's dinner, of course.

I didn't know that -- as a kid, I thought it was something Mom had
invented herself... :-)
