Don't have any experience with this. The minister at our church said
that his ex was one of his best friends. They were close, why should
they be enemies? He and his second wife went to visit her and her
second every summer. They stayed in their house.

Lots of people who part do so on amicable terms. I would welcome any
of my exes into my home any time, and so would my partners. I still
see James's ex-girlfriend on a semi-regular basis. We were friends
before they got together, so I don't see any reason to stop being
friends just because they're not seeing each other any more.
