I like shopping at this place (used to be Cost Plus World Market, now it's
just World Market). Before Christmas I used one of these 40% off sale coupons to get my mom a nice big pannetone. This past Sunday the local paper (_Chicago Trib_) had their flyer with another one of the 40% off coupons. Just picked up some olio and balsamico. I just checked and it's also available online (click the link below, I've also included the fine print), they'll also have their flyer w/coupon in the store. I enjoy nozing around the place, they have all sorts of little food - ish nicks and nacks. Lots of good food items at decent prices, e.g. condiments, olio, coffees, balsamico, teas, spices, chocolate, LOTS of imports, etc. Glasses, dinnerware, festive decorating items, kitchen stuff, you name it. Even if you only have a coupla bux to spend you can always find a little something. to buy... This coupon is good for all items (except likker), including their nice furniture. Before the holidaze they had a Friday "Happy Hour" where everything in the store was 10% off between 5PM - closing. Don't know if they'll be repeating that or not... [Note: I am in NO way affiliated with them, I am just a satisfied customer] You can print out the coupon he http://www.worldmarket.com "Coupon offer valid from 1/7/07 thru 2/2/07. Not valid on alcoholic beverages or gift cards. One coupon per customer per day. Coupon must be surrendered at time of purchase. Cannot be combined with other offers, coupons or discounts. No adjustments to prior purchases. No cash value or rain checks issued. Offer good while supplies last. Returns must be accompanied with original receipt. Valid at World Market stores only. Not valid online. Cashier: enter as discount. Discount code: 5071" / |

Fortunately I was limited to buying what I could carry ![]() If you poke around you can find some 'interesting' finds, e.g. nice wooden blinds, picture frames, etc. Glasses and dishware you can get on the cheap if you find them on sale. They've got really nice gift wrap, bags, etc., especially cheap after the holidays. Their prices on some Asian condiments were not higher than my local Pilipino corner store (which is cheap). Lotsa condiment items are cheaper than at my supermarket (Treasure Island in Chicago)...some of the imported condiment items are cheaper at ethnic stores but then you have to take the time and expense to travel to these places. A big bag of ground black pepper was like three bucks, miles cheaper than at the stupormarkets. World Market is just down the way a few blocks, it's never crowded, and on several ocassions when I've been super - nice (yes, I CAN be, you know!) they've even combined discounts (manager - approved, not anything large, but hey). It's a handy place to have when you need a few items and don't feel like making a big shopping trip... They have lotsa smaller sizes of things, you can put together a nice gift basket for not much money... The store (at least this one) is fairly clean and well - organised, which is a big plus after shopping at places like the local Linens 'n Things, etc... Some of their household stuff reminds me of the olde daze of Pier One, when that place could be a reasonably cheap source of such things. Pier One seems to have gone really upscale, besides which the one in my nabe has closed... -- Best Greg |

We just found one up in Jacksonville on our way back from the clinic and we were in there for at least an hour! Isn't it fabulous? I didn't realize that it used to be a Cost Plus; that explains the ethnic variety of the goods. *Great* assortment of spices, herbs, treats, pasta, sauces, wine, beer - not to mention glassware, kitchen utensils, plates, furniture, drapes, sheets, towels, etc. Even my husband had a good time; he wanted to stay longer than I did! Thanks for the link to the coupon. We'll be using it. kili |

Long story short, they were online as a price for four (maybe $19-20) but when I got to the store I just couldn't bring myself to pay $4 each for everyday "beverageware." I know, I know, that's the same price as the online price but it FELT more expensive. I almost used the coupon for some Lindt Lindor truffles but my good sense overcame me before I left the store empty handed. I wound up buying 16 Libbey or Anchor glasses ("beverageware") at WallyWorld for $10 and change. I love World Market, too. I still have three weeks to use the coupon. There's hope. And I don't like Pier I's new attitude. -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ http://web.mac.com/barbschaller - blahblahblog - 1/4/2007, Lemon Pie Filling Like No Other http://jamlady.eboard.com http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/amytaylor |

I bought some of those there today, telling myself, "Now these are to send to MOM...". I kept my promise to myself, they are wrapped and ready to go out to the PO tomorrow... Chocolate is not something I ordinarily buy, but having those Lindt truffles around the house is NOT a good thing :-) -- Best Greg |
