We are going biking tomorrow (10/5) on a rail trail (Ansonia) near
Wellsboro, PA "The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon". We will be coming from the east on Route 6. I understand maple syrup is produced in that region and would like to find darker/more interesting types. I Googled and found a list of producers and they are all just names with rural PO box addresses and no phone numbers. So I am looking to find actual places where we can buy syrup along or near our route. Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

You'd probably do much better *price-wise* shopping your maple syrup off the net (regardless from which state), have it shipped home and enjoy your trip burden-free (I doubt you'd want to pedal the extra weight of a gallon)... if you happen to came across a good deal along your trek, fine, but if not no matter. ---= BOYCOTT FRENCH--GERMAN (belgium) =--- ---= Move UNITED NATIONS To Paris =--- Sheldon ```````````` "Life would be devoid of all meaning were it without tribulation." |

Good suggestion but we are driving to the area to ride on a 40+ mile railtrail so I thought we might be able to find a local place and stop in as we were driving by. You may be right about price. Frequently all you find are the tourist trap stores but I am hoping someone may suggest a "hidden treasure". ---= BOYCOTT FRENCH--GERMAN (belgium) =--- ---= Move UNITED NATIONS To Paris =--- Sheldon ```````````` "Life would be devoid of all meaning were it without tribulation." |

Wellsboro is my hometown, and my husband and I were married at an overlook at the canyon. The leaves should be changing right about now, and it should be really pretty out there. One of the last times I was at the Leonard Harrison side of the canyon, some people were selling maple syrup right near the parking lot. Don't know how often they sell it there, though. My dad (who lives in Mansfield) sent me a jug of "Pure Pennsylvania Maple Syrup" last winter, produced in Westfield, PA. I know that Westfield isn't really that close to the canyon, but let me know if you want the contact info. for the producer anyway. Mary (now in Houston) |
