We met friends at a seafood spot for dinner at about 7pm last night. Much to our surprise the restaurant was closed. We peeked in the windows and I mean the tables, everything... *poof*... gone. Steven and I were there not more than 3 weeks ago, and the place was packed, so I don't know what happened. At a loss, we went a bit down the road to a chain restaurant called Chiles. The food was pretty blah. The blooming onion as an appetizer was pretty good. Strangely enough there was not a lot of Mexican or Tex Mex on the menu, just *******ized items such as quesadillas with buffalo chicken meat and bleu cheese stuff. Guac was an additional charge. Almost everything was a la carte. I had the baby back ribs which were mediocre. I had a 1/2 rack of Memphis dry rub. It came with a side of steak fries and I ordered a side salad for an additional charge. Steven had steak and mushroom fajitas. The fajita meat was pretty good but the fixins were bland. All in all a very forgettable meal. Price wise it was very reasonable, average of $15 a person. No one ordered alcohol though. The service was very good in a mechanical way. I'll not go back. Food For Today: Steven is off today and we are going to take it easy. For some reason we've both been really busy the past 3 weeks. I'll make some grilled cheese sandwiches and some roasted red pepper soup (again)for dinner. I'm also going to make some Senate Bean Soup, which I'll nibble on tonight but serve for lunch tomorrow. All I have to do is figure out which recipe I'm going to use to make it. I've got about 10 variations to choose from, and can't remember which recipe I like the best. Michael - can't sleep and the beans are soaking Michael, Chiles is an over-advertised fast-food chain as seen on TV over here in PA. Never tried them. So ya think your old joint sold out or what? As far as the Senate Bean Soup goes, a roll of the dice seems appropriate, 11s & 12s are roll-overs! ![]() Good luck and Happy Sunday! Andy |
