I just did the 'Chef at Home' TV turkey dinner. Basically a dry run (I did
it overnight) of brown sugar, salt, Sage, Nutmeg, and optional red pepper
flakes.

I didn't notice any taste at all while I was eating it. Not even the red
pepper flakes. I was supprised. But 10 minutes after finishing, I had a
not unpleasant taste in my mouth, which I couldn't identify. (Hadn't brushed
yet).
.. . . .I 'll have to write this off to the fact my 'taster' must be broken.
Yes, it was fine turkey... but then there is probably no such thing as bad
turkey if it is properly cooked.

1. What is "Chef at Home"?

2. Why is a dinner with no taste at all a good thing? -aem

Chef At Home is a TV cooking program I get on TV (Discovery Home). Chef
Michael Smith.
I had it on Satelite and now get it on cable. I think it is on the Food
Channel too.
I find it quite interesting with some new treatments every session.
The turkey was not tasteless. It just did not have the exotic taste I
expected from the sage and nutmeg, which were purchased new.

But you said, "I didn't notice any taste at all while I was eating it."

Having said that, I'll also add just because you see it on a television
cooking show doesn't mean it's going to be good.

One of the saddest things I've ever seen was a trauma patient, who
because of extensive facial fractures, lost all sense of smell hence
much of his taste for food. Almost hard to imagine...?

He had an aside about a broken nose too which I took to saying he had
a cold. You don't taste much when your nose is out of commission.

True dat.
