Spaghetti with meatballs and sausage for dinner tonight. That's our

I hate football! That's the reason I buy DVD's - I don't have cable TV so
I
have to either have a good book to read or a movie to watch. But for
cooking, I love winter! Time to make all sorts of stews. Hmmm, I
absolutely must rush to the store to buy oxtails

I didn't know you were homophobic. Be nice. Football is the only outlet for
big tough guys who like to jump on each other and pat each other on the
tush, pretending it's a way of congratulating other guys for triumphing over
the enemy: a line of chalk on the grass.

Have you considered NetFlix for your DVD's? You could save a lot of money
and their turnaround time is very good. I only buy DVD's of things that I
know I will want to watch many times.

Oh my god. I thought the real winters starting in mid November was bad.
But it's been unusually warm here for the past few weeks and I don't
recall where I was reading it, but they say that in the northeast summer
is going on longer than before. It's true.

A lot depends on the Altitude...
Evergreen is higher than Denver and we lived up on Shadow Mountain,
roughly 6,000 ft.

Winters lasted thru April. and there were occasional frosts in early May.

I remember snow in May in Denver. Didn't last long but it did snow.

We've lived here since 1984 and have had a blizzard as early as Sept.
15, (1995 (2-3 feet of snow which produced horrible tree damage since
none of the leaves had fallen) and as late as June 2 (don't remember the
year.)

OTOH, we have had Christmas days in the 70's, shirtsleeve weather.

This has been the first year in a long time when the golden aspen color
in the mts. has lasted more than a few days before rain or snow stripped
all the leaves.

You can't take Mother Nature for granted here.

I have Comcast digital cable and I really enjoy the movies on demand
feature...many of them are free, plus there are channels such as "The
Cutting Edge" which feature the odd and unusual...

Well, we all like a gratuitous punctuation correction.

And, while we're on the subject of DVDs, how about joining NetFlix.
Their selection is great. And their service is quick and reliable.

Ah, well. I'm too cheap to pay for cable, so I'm happy with NetFlix.

And, I've never had any delay problems with them!

I like Netflix, too. But, you might want to call your cable company once or
twice a year, or pay attention to their ads. The idiots are slowly beginning
to understand that some people might want to buy a few channels instead of
eleven billion. Maybe before we all die of old age, this will be possible.

Not Cox. You either take whats offered or nothing. I understand why they
don't want to do a la carte, in essence your cable rates would RISE, not
fall.

Here (Time Warner), I pay $7.22 for basic cable: 5 locals plus 2 or 3
bizarre others that they throw in. The next step is $58.00 per month, which
gets me the "Senior Citizen Woodworking " channel and others I have no
interest in. I want food network, comedy central and HBO. If I can have that
for $20-ish, I'm in.

I'm paying closed to $50 a month for the expanded basic package. When
they do finally cut to HDTV I'm just going to drop the video side of it.
Most everything one wants can be found on the web.
