Nine hours after my spaghetti breakfast, my BG was 87. So, I had a bit more
of the same spaghetti for dinner. One hour post prandial was 130, two hour 157, three hour 176, four hour 130. Not good, but a couple of lessons learned. Thanks, Wendy. -- Nick. We had some tonight with a big salad and some fried flounder. -- Janet Wilder Bad spelling. Bad punctuation Good Friends. Good Life |

Nowadays I have to eat rice, corn or quinoa pasta due to our food allergies. This stuff works for me, provided I watch my portion size. We occasionally go to The Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch. I can eat a plate of their gluten free pasta (corn) with no problems, but... My daughter and I switch plates. I eat the kid's meal and she gets my plate. She can't finish my portion, but she gets offended at the childish plate they serve the kid's meal on. And it's the perfect size for me. |

Thanks, Susan. I'll keep an eye out for it. My local market chain stopped carrying it. You can now purchase it directly from the company http://www.dreamfieldsfoods.com/ It is not inexpensive, but when it's the only pasta available for one's diet, it's worth the price. I use the spaghetti in Asian dishes like lo-mein or sesame noodles. It sure is helpful to have something to add to that stir-fry dinner when rice is a no-no. Enjoy -- Janet Wilder Bad spelling. Just like regular pasta. Susan is correct. It tastes just like regular pasta. Dreamfields has a patented way of producing it so that only 5 grams of carbs per 2 ounce dry serving are absorbed by the body. You must be careful about the timing. If it goes to mush, you won't get the benefit of the process. Also not every DM is successful with it. Some people will spike as late as 5 hours post-prandial. You will need to test quite a bit until you can tell if it works for you or not. My DH does well with it. He spiked on Carbquick. Go know? Thanks, Janet. Mushy will never be a problem with pasta for me, as I consider al dente to be slightly overdone. As I said, I'll keep an eye out (inside joke) for Dreamfields pastas. -- Nick. I'll check it out. Even though I'm retired and on Social Security and a small pension, food is one place I don't skimp, especially 'cause Jun buys the food with money she works for. She cooks a lot of her Thai food, so this might be a good alternative to rice noodles. -- Nick. Support severely wounded and disabled Veterans and their families!
