My local 99 Cents Store supplied me with excellent quality fruits and
vegetables all summer. Best deals at 99 cents were the packs of 2 large eggplants, three bell peppers (green, red and yellow), celery, onions, garlic, 2 large zucchini, with bags of plums, little Granny Smiths, nectarines, grapes, pears etc. The tomatoes were extraordinary--6 packs of Romas--very tasty, or the incomparable boxes of cherry and grape tomatoes...my favorite. No tomato can compare to the grape tomato for flavor, and always super fresh. Too bad the lettuce was mostly the ice berg variety, but occasionally there were bags of Romaine hearts. The supply is down to a trickle lately, but I did buy two packs of large eggplants (2 to a pack) and two bags of plums last night. $3.96. |
