Default decent reviews of kitchen equipment

Hi,

I'm in the process of composing my wedding registry. My fiance and I
both spend lots of time in the kitchen so most of our registry
consists of kitchen equipment. While it's great fun to compose a list
of all these fun and wonderful items it's rather frustrating to choose
the best item, brand name or model.

I would appreciate any advice. Do you know of a good site for such
reviews? Where can I go to make sure my registry is filled with items
I really want?

Thanks for your time

Your best bet may to search through the archives of this group for the
different categories. (e.g. "best knives" or "favorite sauce pan").

If you really want something, wouldn't you know it already?

There's a difference between wanting a toaster and knowing which
brand/model is the best toaster.

Maybe things have changed recently. The only kind of bridal registry that I
know of is the one that you fill out at a store. If you put down "toaster"
you can only expect a toaster that the store sells. If you go to several
stores and put down "toaster" you might get several toasters. Are people
now sending out wish lists of stuff? "Dear friends and relative: We want a
Hobart Mixer, Dualite Toaster, KitchenAid Pro Series Waffle Iron. If you
need help finding a store that sells these brands, let us know."

When my daughter-in-law registered for wedding gifts, she specified
_exactly_ what brand and model she wanted.
My husband's niece did the same thing with her lists.

Yes, but they tell you what store. No imagination needed.

Most couples register at one or two stores. You can get the list at the
store of on the store's web page. They will specify the exact brand, model,
and the price will be listed. At the check out, the items will be marked
off the database to avoid duplication. Seems to be common to register at a
kitchen store and like a Home Depot.

I imagine it is like shopping with no money and hoping the family kicks in
the bucks for the top of the line stuff. Last wedding we went to, the
couple was registered at Kitchens Etc. Items ranged from $20 to $500.

Then there is the baby shower . . . .

Dear god!!! I don't think I can afford the advent of gay marriage ..... all
the gifts could bankrupt me.

$20-$500? Yikes!

Dawn who thought spending $37 on 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2
washcloths was a lot of money to spend for a wedding present a few weeks
ago!

Did the couple have a wedding reception? Simple catered meals start
at $50/plate.

Epinions advice is worth what it costs. Amazon is no better.

My recourse is to search the newsgroups.

I hope you aren't suggesting that a wedding gift is suppose to be presented
to offset the cost of the reception! In my opinion, these should be
mutually exclusive items.

When you get older, you'll find that you're willing to spend more
on wedding presents.

FWIW, I standardized my wedding present at this point. It saves
spending time shopping for one. I did this after spending many
hours shopping for one.

My standard wedding gift: a Lenox crystal vase.

This was a second marriage and there will be 3 more people in the house now.
I figured everyone can use more bath towels.
