I'm looking for a 5.5 qt oven to fill out my collection. I don't have
a Le Creuset anywhere within driving distance, but was at Homegoods last night and noticed that they've got a blue "second" for $89.95, and a 3.5 qt for $65.95. Just curious if these are decent prices, or if I should keep looking. Thanks, Mike |

When I bought mine at a Le Creuset outlet store close to 15 years ago, the full first-quality retail was $150 and I paid $90. There's nothing wrong with it, that I can see. The 3.5 quart sounds like a correspondingly good price. Good luck. |

Click on cast iron. Right now it's bringing up 79 items, some of which are brand new in the box... Joe |

Some "secondhand products" is just like new. If that the case, I think its worth it. But if not, I suggest that you check http://www.caplanduval.com They have several round and oval ovens for sale now. I think they sell the 5.5 q for $102.59 and the 7 qt. for $107.99. Pay a little bit more and you get a new products. |

Just curious if these are decent prices, or if I should keep looking. ebay is overpriced. The Outlet stores (they ship if you're not near one) are reliably the cheapest. Their half-yearly sales July, December are the best, with the seconds going for about 1/3 of (not "off") the full retail price. I wouldn't tell you, except that my collection is complete! ;-) Ebay doesn't have to be overpriced - buying on impulse, worrying that you'll miss a "good deal" and getting caught in the excitement of bidding can drive up a price by 1/3 or more. I got a nice little collection of LC potware, by buying used, sniping, and being patient. My friend is jealous, because he paid a hell of a lot closer to retail. I duplicated his collection (except his matches, and mine's more a mixed bag) for less than half what he paid. (We sell quite a bit on Ebay, and I don't mind snipers - sometimes we make less, but we sell more to make up for it.) Oh, and my husband pointed out a dingy, old "vintage" LC oblong casserole dish at a yard sale for a buck. ;-) I get lucky sometimes. |

It was a few years ago, but I spent months following every auction, and NEVER found a decent condition piece going for less than it would go for at as a second at the outlet half-yearly sale. (I have found a few of those buck-a-piece finds too!) I must have caught a low point in the Ebay cycle. We don't have theoutlet store close-by, which I suppose could be a *good* thing. :-) |

I have gotten my best deals on Le Creuset on Amazon. You can buy LC at even
lower than the outlets with no tax or shipping charges there. They also have rebates, $20 off GC deals, and other LC products bundled free as a gift with purchase. Wait till July to buy there. I just got though, a 2.5 quart red LC saucepan AND a $22 deep dish LC loaf pan for $70.49, PLUS $15 off that price at Amazon when I added another item to make $75. Paid about $71 for the saucepan, LC deep loaf poterie pan, and LC 12" whisk. It's now back up to $115 for the saucepan. BTW, Bloomies recently had a first quality 3.5 oval LC oven for $69.99. Also check kitchenhut.com for nice deals from time to time. |
