Default Electronic kitchen scales

I've just replaced the two lithium batteries in my Salter electronic kitchen
scales at a cost of Can$10.70 (±US$8, ±£4.65).

Has anyone found a cheaper alternative, perhaps in the form of an adapter?

What make and model scale, and what was the old batteries' lifespan?

My electronic scale has been over five years on its present batteries.

It's a Salter with the square glass platform. I reckon that a pair of
batteries lasts a little over a year and I don't use them that often -
perhaps every 10 days on average.

Graham, I see your posting which says "scrooge like" so I think I'll post my
complaint piggy back on your posting here. 'Cause I have a need to complain
today.

I just bought my new digital scales "My Scales 6001" from the same place
another poster bought theirs. I'm getting dissatisfied with their service;
i.e. replies to my second email. (I know it's Christmas.)

They shipped promptly, but the wrong product - a $5 connector. After 5
days to a week of not answering my email, they replied and said it was at
my post office (my P.O. didn't send me a notice). My scale was chipped and
didn't include the vibra-killer pad. I'm waiting on a reply from my second
email.

Don't these things just drive you crazy?

Dee

I am finally happy with "My Scales 6001." They sent me a new platform for my
scale, plus the vibrakiller pad that was missing in my shipment.

They had answered in an email that if I shipped back the scale and they
didn't deem it damaged, I would have to pay a re-stocking fee -- or
something like that. That certainly was a determent to sending it back.
But I took a picture of the damage and emailed it to them and was promptly
and agreeably mailed a platform replacement, plus the vibrakiller pad.

Wonders of email and digital cameras and scanners! Just had to
Shaaaaaaaaare!
