Default ??rectangular cake keeper

I am seeking a rectangular cake keeper that will hold a standard-sized
9"x13" sheet/layer cake. I have done an Internet search and so far
the only thing I've come up with is a candidate from Tupperware -- for
a "low" price of $38 plus shipping. I'd prefer not to spend such a
hefty price for this container. I can't even find such a container
from Rubbermaid, my long-time favorite for kitchen containers -- it
seems that the round cake keepers are much more popular these days.

Can anyone suggest a source for a rectangular cake keeper that won't
be quite as pricey as the Tupperware model?

Thanks in advance,
Joan

You can get inexpensive glass pans in that size that have plastic tops. I
know that glass isn't the ideal material for a can pan, but I have one and
it works fine. The lid is great for transporting the cake and you can also
use the pan for other food. The lid is good for coving the pan in the
refrigerator. You can probably get one at most discount stores for around
$10.

I haven't seen any for years, but if you can stretch to the Tupperware,
do! I've had both my cake boxes for 21 years (they were wedding
presents) and I'm very sad that they have pulled out of the UK. Their
lifetime guarantee is for real! Mum needed a new lid for a box (it got
melted!), the box was over 30 years old, and they replaced it free of
charge! I pick up odd bits here and there in flea markets still, if I
think I can use them.

You may start seeing Tupperware at better prices: there was a rumour
that they were swapping from party plan distribution to selling in
stores, but I have no idea how true this is.

I think Tupprware is available at Target and/or Walmart. That sounds
expensive if you are not going to use it many times. Have you looked for
a covered plastic container that you could devise a holder for??

Try ebay for the Tupperware Cake Taker. I sold one last year on there for
just over $10.

Thanks all for the suggestions. As it turns out, I was able to locate
several of the brand-new Tupperware cake keepers on eBay. I have just
purchased one for $17 + $7 shipping -- brand new. Quite a price
difference from the original $38 + shipping I saw earlier!

Try www.cambro.com

They may be able to guide you to a distributor from whom you can purchase
individual products.
