Get some ham to go with it (sorry, couldn't resist!). If you have kids you
know what I am getting at.

Welcome to pottery cooking. BGE's main competitor, Kamado, has a large
following at alt.food.barbecue. I have a grilldome...also a BGE competitor.
lots of info in AFB and helpful hints . There are several sites which cater
to ceramics.BGE has their own forum as does K and GD.
http://www.bbq-porch.org/faq.asp http://www.nakedwhiz.com/bge.htm
http://www.tm52.com/bge/ should also be helpful. You won't be sorry you
bought a ceramic smoker, roaster , grill, pit. Be sure you use lump charcoal
and not briquettes.Burn hotter and can last longer on low and slow. not
nearly as much ash as briquettes.
Keep on smokin'

My husband (who was in charge of this decision) opted for the largest one.
The store owner (a Big Green Egg user himself) said the only complaint he'd
ever had was from a customer who had purchased the medium size and wished
he'd purchased the largest one.

That's where we bought it. If you happen to live in the Clear Area of
Houston I highly recommend them!

Chris, do you happen to know their address offhand? I can't decide between a
BGE or a Kamodo. Since I can't get my hands on a Kamodo, I'd at least like to
try a BGE on for size. I worry about how heavy the lids are in trying to open
them.

Kamado lids are spring-loaded on the 3 larger sizes. Where are you? post a
question on the Kamado forum, and I'll bet someone will invite you over for a
sampling.

Hi Paula,

They have two of them on display... the medium and the large... if you want
a smaller one I guess they'd order it.

Anyway it's:

Chim-Chimneys, Inc.
830 W. Main Street
League City, TX 77583
281-316-9077

It's across the street from Dairy Queen.

They have a web site, but it appears to be in the process of being updated.
More than likely you'll be dealing with Brad or Brenda who are the owners.
Great people!

Since you're still looking, may I suggest you check out Grill Dome also. A
quality product. (I have no affiliation with them except as a satisfied
customer.).
