Post Bench top kitchen mixers

I am looking at buying a kitchen mixer but im not sure what sort to buy
i have two models in mind

1 the kitchen aid
2 the kenwood chef major

i have a kenwood chef at the moment but it is starting to die it is older than i am

but i have not had any experience with the kitchen aid and i was wondering if any of you good people out there could point me in the right direction.

good or bad experiences i would like to know.

i am looking at the larger sizes, as i make a lot of fruit cake and i am sick of making single batches.

thanks in advance to you all

I have both an old KitchenAid and a newer Kenwood - both are excellent
machines.
I use the KitchenAid in the US - parts and services for it are readily
available there.
I use the Kenwood in the UK - it is/was a UK brand, and parts and services
are easy to find there.

If you know that you can get parts or repairs if needed, and find a good
price, I don't think it really matters which one you get - both of them are
good, hard-working machines. Mine live on the counter and are used on an
almost daily basis.

No Kenwood in US. Cook's illustrated liked the 5 qt deLonghi and the
Kitchenaid pro 600 watt. best. Acceptable were a bunch of others
although the viking had problems with beater retention. And some mixers
died mixing bread.

Kenwood was bought by deLonghi.
