Can someone give me some suggestions or recommendations on a pasta maker.

I
received one for Christmas and it broke after the forth use (i.e. the

roller
became wider at one end than the other). I made multiple attempts to

contact
the manufacture with no response. The machine is a Al Dente 5 Pasta Set

made
by Villa Ware. In my email attempts I requested the cost for parts, I
received no response.

Contact the store that sold it and see if they can be of help.

We use the attachment on our Kenwood. Before that we had a kit that we
rolled it through - a bit like the old fashioned mangle. It was a bit
fiddly but the result was great.

You don't say what kind. If you mean one of the extrusion ones I can't
help ya, I think that extruded pasta (and the machines that make it)
suck. YMMV. I use an Atlas with the optional electric motor and it
does a very nice job. Here's an example:

I think that is the one he is talking about, but a different brand. I have
a Villa Imperia pasta maker and mine works great. We just don't use it very
often, but we love the pasta we get from it!

Dawn (hungry for pasta primavera now, made with spinach pasta!)

I had a Simac pasta machine that mixed, kneaded, and extruded pasta. It was
a wonderful machine. Unfortunately, one day I forgot to put the piece in
that contained ingredients to the mixing chamber, and the extrusion tube
filled up with flour. So much pressure built up that the machine virtually
exploded. That was the end of that machine. Now I use my food processor to
make the dough and I have the pasta roller and cutter attachment for the
Kitchen Aid stand mixer. They work fine, but the Simac was more versatile
in that I had a lot of dies that could make everything from very thin angel
hair pasta, to tubes and sheets. I still have the companion ravioli maker.
It has a hopper for the filling and is designed to produce small or large
ravioli depending on which direction you turn the crank. I have never been
able to get the thing to work. I think it is one of those things that looks
good on paper but doesn't work in reality.

Thank you all for your input! I enjoyed the maker when it worked.
Unfortunatly I had five attacments that came with the maker. I wonder if
they would fit the Atlas or some of the other machines? The Atlas looks like
it was made by the same manufacturer. I saw on Targets web site they have a
base unit for $29 but it doesn't say what brand it is.

Boy, tough guess there. I have no idea from looking at the pics at
http://ruralroot-store.site.yahoo.ne...achin e+pasta

I kind of doubt it, but you never know. Call Atlas maybe? I did a
quick seach and tried to find 'em but had no luck.

I really doubt if the attachments would be interchangeable though.

We have good success with the pasta roller and cutter attachments on the
Kitchen Aide mixer - make the dough in the mixer and roll it and cut it with
the attachments.
