Favorite all purpose kitchen cleaner?
Counters, sinks and stovetops.
Looking for one that doesn't have that Windex-like chemical smell. What do you use? Susan |

I try not to use any chemicals unless absolutely necessary. I consider Bartenders Friend 'absolutely necessary.' and it comes out every week or so. In the meantime for my countertops and black cooktop, I clean off as usual, and spray-bottle some vinegar. I either leave for a few minutes and walk away, or I wipe up with a paper towel. Dee Dee |

It has a very pleasant smell. They also make a version ammonia which I avoid. For some things I use just water with white vinegar. For my stainless steel sink I use Cameo Stainless Steel Cleaner. -- Wayne Boatwright ******************************************* Date: Sunday, 01(I)/20(XX)/08(MMVIII) Today is: Feast of Septuagesima ******************************************* Don Ho can sigh autographs 3.4 times faster than Efrem Zimbalist Jr. --George Carlin ******************************************* |

I use different products, depending on the degree of messiness and the
surface I'm cleaning. For the granite tops, inside the fridge, stainless steel cooktop etc I use spray and wipe. For the sinks I use liquid ajax. If what I'm cleaning is really dirty I use the powder ajax but that is only on surfaces that won't scratch. Spray and wipe smells the best. The others are practical! If I get a stain I will use some Clorox on the counter or sink. And occasionally some Bon Ami on the sink to remove metal scratches. If something particularly noxious gets on the counter I spray with peroxide and vinegar. -- Susan N. In one of those spray bottles (of 3) that I buy at Costco. An aside: I use the same straight vinegar to spray greens before rinsing. Dee Dee |

If one is so inclined, there are 'all sorts' of veggie washes, which contain 'all sorts' of expensive ingredients. http://www.veggie-wash.com/?gclid=CO...FQyWHgodoGkk_w Veggie Wash® is the all-natural way to remove wax, soil and agricultural chemicals from produce. Veggie Wash® is great for more than just fruits and vegetables. It can also clean countertops, cutting boards and other food preparation areas - without alcohol, bleach, or harmful chemicals! Some people don't care to use anything other than water or soap/water. Others are concerned. I used to buy something that I mixed with water -- something like grapeseed oil -- but I decided that vinegar is my choice of cleaner. Vinegar and baking soda is my main household cleaners. As you know from my previous postings about concerns about uses of chemicals for cleaning and my use of "Ecover," I have found that it is best for my home and personal environment. Although it must affect the environment globally, that is not my 'main' concern for the my choice of cleaners. HTH, Dee Dee |
