Default Toaster / egg cooker combos, what's the assessment?

I am wondering if anyone here has tried one of these combos? I'm
curious if anyone has found the egg cooker worth the bother, and how
clean-up is?

Do you really need another appliance just to cook an egg? Put egg in pot,
bring to boil, turn off heat. Four minutes later you have a perfect soft
egg, in eight a perfect hard egg. Fried eggs go in the pan.

I didn't say I was goi ng to get one. I already have a toaster and the
Sunbeam electric egg poacher. It's just that I used to work at
Famous-Barr in the houseware department, and I still visit the old gang
(now at macy's housewares), and they were telling me that these things
have sold like wildfire, but on one there had actually used one, and
they hadn't really heard back from customers who bought them.

So curiosity lead me to post my querie. That's all.

Is Famous-Barr now Macy's?

Sad to say it is. All May stores except Lord and Talyors and one Hechts
are now Macy's, or closed if two May stores were in the same shopping
center. The lone Hechts is now a Bloomingdales, and Lord and Taylors
was sold to avoid antitrust.

And as Macy's, product selection and prices are not as competitive, and
those I worked with who are still there are not as happy. Over half the
full timers were laid-off or fired subversively in some cases, and the
salesthings now sometimes cover two and even three departments that were
once separate. Oh, and now, everyone must wear black clothes, except if
they wear a tie, it can be a solid color on a white shirt or black
shirt, but if they wear a tie, they must wear a jacket.

What a damned shame! Don't get me wrong, I like Macy's (NYC, and original
branches elsewhere), but I hate takeovers when the stores taken over were
terrific to begin with. I lived in St. Louis many years ago and cherished
all the department stores, including Scruggs-Vandervoort-Barney,
Vandervoort's, Stix Baer & Fuller, and of course Famous-Barr. They were
all top stores in my book.
