14 minutes to heat the water seems like a long time when other
electric tea kettles on the market do it in 6 minutes or less.

They use gentle heat so that they don't burn the water.

Surely not 6 minutes -- mine must not take even 3 +/-.
Very fast.

========================

Dee,

The Bodum site sez that the tea kettle capacity is 1.5
liters (48 oz) and it boils in 14 minutes.

I think that this length of time is too long. I would
prefer a much shorter time. If you have an electric tea
kettle that will boil 1,5 liters or 48 oz in only 3+/-
minutes -- PLEASE SHARE the make and model with me for I
want to get one.

You had not mentioned that you were speaking of 48 oz. (6 cups). I will
put six cups in mine in the morning. I will put water that is sitting on
the counter, which is what I always put in it.
I will count the minutes.

I forgot to say, that you don't put 48oz. in the 48oz. capacity tea kettle.
If you measure out the amount of water that you normally put in that size
tea kettle, then that's a different amount than 48 oz.. IOW: How many
minutes does it take to boil how many ounces of water in that tea kettle.
You won't know until you try it.

How many oz. do you normally heat? Then I will do it and tell you how many
minutes mine takes for that much.

Dee,

You must have missed it. Here is the quote from my Sep 7 message
=========
"14 minutes to heat the water seems like a long time when other

=========

The 14 minutes (Bodums claim on their WEB site for 48oz) came from the
original Bodum link in the first message that J. Blint posted.

What amout of water were you referring to for 3 minutes?

I have a Sunbeam Hot Shot that heats 2C of sink water in 90 seconds.
