Default what stores sell sip sticks (coffee stirrer/straw)?

I need about 30 coffee straws (about 5 inches long and 3mm in diameter) for
a project. Online price is about $1.50 for a case of 1000 but shipping is
$6.

Anyone knows what local stores carry this item? I checked two grocery stores
already and they only have the non-straw kind of coffee stirrers.

Since we don't know where "local" is for you, it's more difficult to
say. Look in your phone book for a restaurant supply place.

Try Casn & Carry which is owned by United Grocers. Even a Party place
might have some.
