I had the flu a month ago, and I have totally lost my taste for coffee!?!
and I am a 14 year veteran of double shots from my machine every morning.

I
am not sure what is happening to me. Black tea is my poison now.

have you tried double shots of hemlock?

I suspect the flu can damage (hopefully, only temporarily) the tissues
in the nose, throat and sinuses, changing, or at least affecting the
taste/smell of things. Age does it as well. After a dose of the flu
decades ago left me with sinus problems that lingered for many months,
I vowed to try to avoid this disease where possible (flu shot every
year). I hope you regain your coffee addiction. Cheers

I got a 15,000 volt jolt from a flyback transformer
in a Computer monitor, one day, and I could
not drink anything for a couple of days..
everything has a metallic twang to it..
this is not unusual.
After 5 days.. I was back to normal.. whatever normal is..

Maybe you don't like coffee any more. Probably you'll be back.
Just drink what you like. I'd try swapping the black tea for
Yerba Mate, that'll make you keen to return coffee...

actually yerba matte (a little milk and sugar definitely helps) is quite
good (a little milk and sugar definitely helps) and it definitely will take
care of the need for caffeine!

I always a bit of sugar but never any milk to my mate, and I
usually use the traditional gourd/straw (which would be tainted
by milk). I rather like the peculiar taste but it's the
stunning hit of caffeine that I was talking about. It makes
coffee seem relaxing by comparison.

I like to drink coffee, tea, or matte before going to bed (for a nap or at
night)...hum, I just had about 16 oz. of moka pot espresso and I feel the
need for a nap!

I had a bout with surgery three years ago and my sense of taste changed
drastically. Maybe the hospital food.... Anyway, it has come back to where
it was before. Took six months or so. harrym

Interesting...

That's exactly how I know if I am really unwell - if coffee doen't appeal to
me,
and how I know if I've fully recovered - I need a cup before I can do
anything else first thing in the AM.

Don't think that my distaste for coffee has ever lasted more than a couple
of weeks though.
