Default What Happened to Hacker Pschorr Octoberfest?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Hacker Pschorr used to be the best up until this year. Now it is the
worst. Yes that dramatic a change. It used to be malt heaven with
enough tostiness and lager crispness. Not it has zero malt, burnt
toastiness, and absolutely nothing else!!!!!!!

Yeah they decided to make it crappy this year since it has been so good
in the past. They just decided to give all the American microbrewers a
chance since they make such shitty interpetations of the style.

It's all in your head.

I dunno... Some in your head, yes, but yearly variances in Munich Ofests
exported to the U.S.? Yes, I think so too. You're making a point, I know,
but there's something to this, IMO. Just nowhere near as concrete,
black-n-white as the OP implies.

Is it possible you had a bottle that had been sitting around
on a shelf somewhere since last year?

I find Oktoberfests to be a style that is very susseptible
to bad handling. They loose their taste quickly, and are easily
affected by bad treatment.

My favorite so far this year was Spatan's Oktoberfest.
Maybe because it came from a fresh keg.

id stop buying imports if more than 80%f of americas beers
werent garbage and the remaining 20%could get it right...
i havent tried the oct.fest this year, but i have always loved it...
maybe your tastes are changin...i really like their hefe-weizen
spatan i only like from the keg....octoberfests usually stay good for
at least 6 mos.
maybe a lil' less in the green bottle (spaten)
the stronger beers tend to stay good for longer.

Quote ""Yeah, them Belgians suck at the brewin'""
yea, especially since its a german beer, im sure begians done give a
rats ass
about brewing octoberfests!
but what do those belgian and german brewers know about
brewin...they've only been doing it for 500yrs longer than americans!
maybe they just need to sacrafice quality for $$ and commercialism
and more homoginized american taste buds would like it.
we got a good brewpub GRITTYS in ME that does a good winter
and an awesome octoberfest...kept me working there for free beer!!
Belgium Delerium Tremes ROCKS!!!
