I could not get to specific reviews of brewpubs. The rest of the site seems
OK

It's always (well, for some time as of late) taken a long time to load the
site reviews. Just give it time to process it, and they'll pop up
eventually. (At least they do for me.)

While it's not a direct replacement, the beerfly pub reviews on
beeradvocate.com are a pretty good resource, too.

Too limiting. I tried to post a great little funky mountain outfitter
place in Manitou Springs Colorado that is an outfitter shop up front
but has a pub in the back. They only have 7 taps, but all of those taps
are excellent like Left Hand Porter, Avery IPA, Stone IPA, etc. I guess
they thought that 7 beers wasn't enough and it's a shame.

This isn't the east coast and 7 great taps in the back of a family-run
place ought to qualify IMO.

I agree that it's limited compared to pubcrawler, but do often find
that it's a good source for info when I'm travelling.

Note, however, that Kinfolk's Mountain Outfitters is now on there, but
with no reviews yet (I've found that they are good about adding
places, but very, very slow about it):

Add a review, I'm interested, since I do occasionally wander around
that area.

Well, maybe ratebeer.com's place listings will allow it!

wow. The pop-up is really annoying. Then they try to coerce you into
signing up by claiming they'll go away.

No thanks.

Well I take it back! I just looked earlier and couldn't find it. Oh
well.

Pubcrawler, Ratebeer, and Beeradvocate all have their pluses and minuses.
In my experience, the former tends to be far better for a geographical or
thematic search (going to Flagstaff? You saw a "goose" beer?) or for rating
places; the latter two better for individual beers and bottled products.
Beer writers I deal with tend to agree that it's a bit easier to discern the
signal-to-noise ratio at Pubcrawler, i.e. easier to pick out ballot box
stuffing and well-regarded places by examining the reviews.

Pubcrawler is definitely NOT the place to go if you're looking for specific
beers, or a well-regarded porter or hefeweizen. But it IS the better place
for travel planning.

And the Pubcrawler pop-up DOES go away. And I've never signed up in the
fashion they suggest, either.

Above and beyond that, it all boils down to a matter of personal preference,
just like we might prefer ale to lager or strong beer to lighter beer. One
comparison I've made that some friends agreed with was that Ratebeer and
Beeradvocate appeal more to the type of person that would be a sports fan
meticulously tracking team and player statistics in his notebook, while
Pubcrawler appeals more to the type of person that goes to the ball parks
for the overall experience no matter who is playing.
