Of course, they have to say the right things or they'll be immediately
banned from ever entering the festival again.

Nah, I stay out of the RB-BA spats, but I couldn't resist one little
shot. I'm glad BA's out there, I just think the brothers Alstrom are a
mite intense. They've got themselves a good website that provides a good
service but just need to relax a bit.

I couldn't resist one little shot

I'd expect nothing less.

I'm glad BA's out there, I just think the brothers Alstrom are a
mite intense. They've got themselves a good website that provides a good
service but just need to relax a bit.

Intense is good. It's raw passion. It gets things done. It draws attention.
It often goes hand-in-hand with success.

The compliment is much appreciated.

As far as relaxing goes ... I wouldn't be too quick to judge nor define us
by our methods. Try building and moderating a site that gets ~2 million
unique visitors per month, run 3 beer fests a year, build your own brewery,
write a weekly, etc, etc ... then we'll talk about "relaxation" over some
beers. ;-)

Who has time to relax when there's much fun with spreading the good word of
better beer to be had? Not me. Hell ... I'll relax when I'm dead.

Speaking of beer ... I think I'll have another!

Have an awesome weekend ... relax a bit.

It's nice to see things never change in this RFDB.

Come to the fest if you can pull yourself away from your troll hole, and
remember to take your meds so you can deal with people in the real world.

earned the rfdb Shameless Self-Promoters of the Year Award.

Thanks ... we humbly accept the award.

Look at the bigger picture ... we're promoting better beer. If anyone here
can't handle a few press releases that promote our fests / events, that
ultimately promote the breweries involved and the better beer scene ... move
along. We're on-topic and that speaker line-up is sweet.

Anyway ... someone has to post something interesting here from time to time,
and occasionally feed the trolls.

Look, I'm impressed with what you guys have done with BeerAdvocate. It's a
good resource and a good community. Take some pride in that.

At the same time, both of you look pretty pathetic posting nearly the
identical sorts of things slagging on rfdb. What the **** have either of you
done to contribute to the group in the last few years, other than respond
with links back to your own site? Where it's pertinent, sure, that's
perfectly legit. But then to whine that the group is "dead" when that is all
either of you do is somewhere well beyond ironic.

You guys seem to see competition where none exists. You have a good thing
going. Usenet as a whole is a shadow of its former self, no matter which
group you're talking about. I don't care if rfdb is as active as
www.rateadvocateandwashbeergeekballs.com or whatever the latest sites are,
and I'm guessing most of the regulars here don't either. It is what it is,
your thing is what it is, and they can both exist beside each other.

-Steve
