Got a question for all yous beer gurus. I don't drink beer a whole lot, but
when I do, I choose Miller Lite. It's taste is clean and sorta simple - like me. Hey. But a few days ago I gotta 12-pack from my local Krogers, and it had a nasty after-taste, kinda sour - like my ex-wife. Is that a sign of spoilage or sumpin? Is that common? If I take it back, will the grocier wanna bust my chops, ya think? Has anyone else had this happen? I know they have the ad where guys can't taste their beer. If this is what it always tasted like, I wouldn't wanna taste it either. Hey. |

You don't say whether you bought bottles or cans, but there are many things that can give beer a sour aftertaste, and they usually involve transit from the brewery to the store rather than Miller sending out a bad batch. If you take the beer back to Krogers and ask to trade it in for a new 12 pack, it should be okay. I had a similar situation once with a bottle of wine and the store had no problem taking it back as long as I was exchanging it for another bottle of the same wine. -Tom W |

Of course I had to drink a few to be sure and get a second opinion from a few friends. So, there's about 4 or 5 missing. What can I say? I'd feel kinda like a horses's patoot taking them back now. But, from now on, I'll take em back upon the first bad sip. Funny thing, I had this happen with Lipton Brisk tea (in the can) a few years back. The Lipton people didn't believe me when I called about it. The just appeazed me with a coupon for a replacement 6 pack. But it tasted the same. Again, I got a coupon. After a few months of this, they finally sent a person out and did some research. Come to find out, I was right. A local bottler ended up with too much potasium in the product, giving it a sour taste. They were so thankful I kept pushing the point, I drank free Lipton tea for about a year after that. So, anyways... about the beer. I'll try another 12 pack, but I'll pop a top in the parking lot to be sure. (Hey, I think there's a song in that.) Just gimme another 12 pack, If it's bad, you'll get it right back. Let me first pop a top Out in your parking lot, So that I can be sure It don't taste like manure... Anymore. |

Randal wrote: Stop drinking that fermented corn syrup and support your local brewery. What if that *is* his local brewery? ;-) Well, it used to be that there were local, regional and national brewers in the US., so even if you lived across the street from the Miller Brewery in Milwaukee, they weren't "your local brewery" (I guess Point Special was, or maybe Lienekugel ...) but just a branch of a national brewery that happened to be real close g... Randal wrote: He lives in South Africa? Guess I better check the headers... Actually, SABMiller's headquarters are in the UK, having moved in the late 90's- one of the reasons they changed/shortened the corporate name to SAB (the other obviously was image- "South African Breweries"???). http://www.sabmiller.com/sabmiller/s...ls/contact+us/ |

oups.com... Stop drinking that fermented corn syrup and support your local brewery. _Randal Huh? Local brewery? We got no breweries round here. And I think the closest one makes fermented corn syrup. So, I can't drink that either, right? By the way, did Miller Lite change to being fermented corn syrup when South Africa bought it, or was it fermented corn syrup before that? I'm confused. Of course, if I could fart and make it a perfect world for both of us, I guess I'd have a local brewery that produces beer I like at a good price, and I could find that same beer elsewhere in my travels. Then I would support that brewery. I guess. Maybe. |
