Healthy Food = A Longer Life?

Just seems that way.

The original post never made it to my server, nor does it seem to have made
it to Google. So, in the true Usenet spirit of commenting on things I have
no ****ing clue about:

I don't necessarily care about a longer life. OK, if it makes a difference
between 45 adn 75, yes, I'm interested. But if it's the difference between
75 and 78, I don't much care. No, at any stage, I'm not going to be looking
forward to dieing, but if the difference is to live to 75 and enjoy most of
those years, or to live to 78 and enjoy few of them, I'm going to choose the
former. I enjoy good food. I enjoy good drink. In my opinion, they're a
significant part of what makes being alive in the first place pretty damn
enjoyable.

I have no interest in living to be 100. I have an interest in enjoying the
one life I get. I'm not going to give up "unhealthy" things as a result.

I think there's a 12-sided die in there somewhere that you're
ignoring, Lew. Are there things you can do/not do? Duh.

But then there's Jim Fixx.

The original post never made it to my server, nor does it
seem to have made it to Google. So, in the true Usenet
spirit of commenting on things I have no ****ing clue
about:

That's my line, asshole.

I don't necessarily care about a longer life. OK, if it
makes a difference between 45 adn 75, yes, I'm interested.

Ref: 12-sided die. If you're going to drop dead at 45,
you're going to drop dead at 45.

But then there's Lou Reed.

But if it's the difference between 75 and 78, I don't much
care.

I'm reminded of a fellow living in Venice, CA, who believes
that a severe diet will lead to longer life. I guess there's
evidence for this - burning a short flame leads to longer
life. In chimpanzees (they end up hammering the gimme-
pellets-button relentlessly). Nice life, that. Good luck
with your 1300 calories a day, Buddy.

1300 calories.

A day.

What kind of life does Dingle**** have? He eats nothing, he
works out like a fiend, and...he actually looks like hell
(weathered, long stringy grey hair, even has a...get this:
paunch). Yeah, 3 more years of *that* is worth having...

Dude. Muscle Inn. Have a ****ing beer. Every day. From
now on. I'll set up an account. Save yourself.

No, at any stage, I'm not going to be looking forward
to dieing,

To what?

but if the difference is to live to 75 and enjoy
most of those years, or to live to 78 and enjoy few of
them, I'm going to choose the former.

I thought I just said that.

I enjoy good food. I enjoy good drink.

But you'll NEVER catch up to Lou Reed.

In my opinion, they're a significant part
of what makes being alive in the first place pretty damn
enjoyable.

I agree completely, but I'd add other experiences to that.
Music, travel, sailing, insert preference here...

....The Commander teaches high school in Lakewood, CA. This
is an unhurried hour-long bike ride from sand. Every year
The Commander has one or two students who have never seen the
Pacific Ocean.

Eat a bullet why dontcha?

Don't hate the student, hate the parent.

The...Pacific...Ocean.

I have no interest in living to be 100.

We're all rootin' for the same thing, Steve.

I'll bet you're a Democrat.

I'm not going to give up
"unhealthy" things as a result.

Good for you.
