I can wait. One of my locals had SN Harvest on tap, and AFAIC, that can
hang around for a few more weeks. Let SNCA come out after Christmas, as
it should. Meanwhile, there are already discounted cases of Jubel on
sale at Costco. Feh. So much for "holiday" beers. It's *OCTOBER*,
f'cryin' out loud!

Bigfoot is for after Christmas. I like my SNCA to be
readily available before Thanksgiving (which is a holiday,
you culturally insensitive brute).

Och, ye heathen laddie. Thanksgiving is a fookin' *harvest* feast. So
drink the beers that celebrate the bounty making your table and belly
groan. There's time enough for the likes of SNCA right after that.

last night i had a pint of 2004 SN celebration ale at Toronado in SF;
was not as malty as i remember it in years past, and is quite hoppy,
with a strong hop aroma(nice and fresh).

I'm beginning to wonder if SNCA was ever malty. Every year, we all say the
same thing: "it's not as malty as I remember." I'm beginning to think we've
all got collective amnesia and the thing never was malty but just a
bracingly hoppy beer that had enough malt going on not to wither in the
presence of so many hops.

There's nothing on Snopes, but I'm quite prepared to declare the vanishing
maltiness of SNCA to be urban legend.

Half Moon Bay, California. Or at least it was until I cleaned them out.

As good as any in recent memory.

(Malty? SNCA? Gimme a break!)

Time for a trip to Toronado.

I've always scoffed at the seemingly annual reports that SNCA has changed
(usually for the worse) and maintained that it has always been a "bracingly
hoppy beer that had enough malt going on not to wither in the presence of so
many hops." Yet after my first sip of 04 SNCA a couple days ago my initial
thought was "damn this is a lot more hoppy this year"

OBMidwesternbeer: Three Floyd's makes some FG beer. I just finished the last of
the Alpha Kings that I brought back from Chicago and I'm already wishing for
more.

I thought that 2001 and 02 were fairly consistent, and pretty hoppy
(finishing hops). I really felt that 03 was more bitter (not necessarily
less malty!) than those previous years. It seemed to me that maybe they
were trying to keep up with the double IPA trend so they upped the IBUs.
Haven't yet tried the 04.
