Default Beer stores in Chicago

I'm going to be making a short visit to Chicago in the coming weeks on my way
back from South Bend. I've done some research on pubcrawler and I have a list
of bars I want to visit but I'm also looking for a good retail outlet or two
with a good selection of local beer. We're staying in the Loop without a car so
stores in the vicinity would be best.

thanks,
mike

Closest you'll find are Sam's and Binny's. There's a Binny's on Grand and
about Orleans, just north of the Loop. Sam's is up off of Clybourn and a
couple blocks north of North, just across the street from the Goose Island
Lincoln Park pub. Both will be an easy cab ride from the Loop. You could
take the El (Red Line to North and Clybourn for Sam's, Brown Line to
Merchandise Mart or Chicago for Sam's), but you'll have a little bit of a
walk in both cases.

Ive always hears a great deal about a place called Armanetti's (sp?), but I
dont know its location in Chicagoland.
Close enough to be a Philadelphian!

Armanetti's is a chain of liquor stores, therefore they have many different
locations not only in Chicago but in many of the suburbs. I would suggest
using a phone book from the area you will be visiting to find the closest
one.

True, but the one that's worth going to for a beergeek is in Mundelein.
