Default RIP - Dogwood Brewing Company, Atlanta Georgia

The rumors became official late this week. Sad news indeed,
especially since they just released their Youngbloods Imperial Porter
to good reviews and had a barleywine set for release. (would have
just posted the link, but you have to register to read the articles on

Dogwood Brewing Co. calls it quits

The keg's run dry at Atlanta-based Dogwood Brewing Co.

The local brewery, founded in 1996 at the peak of the micro-brew boom,
has been losing money for years and is shutting its doors, said
founder Crawford Moran.

He blames the demise of his small company, which had revenue of
roughly $500,000 last year, on several factors, including the overall
beer market, the Georgia regulatory environment and his own lack of
start-up capital. He started the company with $750,000, which he
acknowledges is not nearly enough for such a capital-intensive
business.

"To put it simply, we just couldn't make ends meet," said Moran, who
started the company after earning a masters degree in comparative
literature at the University of North Carolina, because he loved beer.
"As good as our beer is and as strong as our reputation is, it just
wasn't enough. And at the end of the day, we have to pay the bills and
try to make an honest living."

What for bullshit is this? "Overall" the beer market's down, but crafts are
up. I mean, I'm sorry to see Dogwood go, but dammit...have the hair on your
butt to claim the blame. This is essentially saying "people was too stoopid
to buy my beer." Thanks.
