Who brews this? A local brewery (Western Pa.) is advertising a case of 24 cans
of American or American Light Beer for $7.99. At least half the price of all others. Has anyone tasted this? Probably a good picnic beer, would taste as good as the premiums once a can sat out in the sun for a few minutes and "skunked!" |

Maybe they're test-marketing cheap beer? |

A "local brewery" is advertising it and you want to know who brews it? Wouldn't it logically be the same local brewery? http://www.pittsburghbrewingco.com/c...?area=3&page=4 "American" has been a brand of Pittsburgh since the heyday of beer can collecting (when they were selling what seemed like dozens of brands- similar to General's marketing on the West Coast, at the same time). They list it as a "popular price" brand (i.e, real cheap). Probably a good picnic beer, would taste as good as the premiums once a can sat out in the sun for a few minutes and "skunked!" Well, since "skunking" is a by-product of beer being exposed to light, it must be REALLY sunny at your picnic for that little hole in the top of the can to allow in enough light to skunk the beer in a few minutes g! |

You drink out of the can at picnics ???!!! Well, no, I'd probably find a nice English style pint glass but then, I can't think of the last "picnic" I went to (unless you're using the term for just any outdoor party- picnic to me brings to mind a park and a green painted table under the trees by lake...) or the last canned beer I had. Wait, I did get an 8 pack 16 oz. cans of Bitburger a few weeks ago. It was hot, I felt like a European pilsner and everything in bottles at that particular store looked pretty sad. It was cheap- $6.99 I think, with a case going for $17.99. Dull, yeah, but it wasn't skunked g. I was just making a joke from your saying "...once a can sat out in the sun for a few minutes and "skunked!" I now definitely prefer drinking premium, imported or high priced domestics from clear 16oz. clear plastic cups, and local beers from the red cups. Hmmm...I think it's traditionally green translucent plastic cups for imports, brown plastic for micros, yellow plastic for domestics (give it SOME color) and that red should be reserved for malt liquors. But, it may be a regional thing, too...g |

Who brews this? A local brewery (Western Pa.) is advertising a case of 24
cans of American or American Light Beer for $7.99. I think it is a Belgian import that over there goes under the name of Westvleteren 12. They would have used the "Westvleteren 12" label (actually, bottlecap) except that I think Anheuser-Busch holds the trademark. |
