So, this is their spring seasonal. They bill it as a high gravity cream
ale. 7.6% ABV and 40 IBU! I kinda expected to get at least a little
corn character out of it since it was billed as a cream ale, but I guess
the high hopping should have given me a clue. To me, I can't see why
this isn't an IPA or at least a strong APA. Too dark and hoppy to be
anywhere near even a high gravity cream ale. Not a bad beer, but I just
can't see how they can possibly call it a cream ale of any sort. And
yes, I'm well aware that breweries can brew anything they want and call
it anything they want. Anybody here tried it yet? Your thoughts?

Can't help you there, Denny. When I saw the subject line, I thought this was
about a Mars Rover landing site. ;-)

Well, apparently, that's more common than people who have tried this
beer!

I love it. It's got a bit of an earth-y sort of something
to it, which I figure is some effect of cream ale fermentation
or whatever. Yeah, it's bitter too. Lovely in the Masskrug too.
Easily the best Lagunitas beer ever. (I.e., my favorite.)

I might not praise it quite that highly but I just tried it for the 2nd time
last night and I liked it just fine. I tasted something slightly grainy in it (
possibly what Nick is refering to as earthy) with a nice clean and restrained
(for Lagunitas at least) bitterness.

I haven't tried it yet, have been less and less eager to try their beers
because they all seem to give the same impression as thick, hoppy, high in
alcohol. Not that those are bad things but.....all the time ?
