are there any others beside Straub that still use the two-prong? Fewer all the time, Tom. Down in the cellar I have two of those taps and one of the even older taps with the long rod that had to be rammed into the kegs, dislodging a plug in the process. Lew, do you suppose in a couple of years I can get a big pile of money for them as antiques? Or should I just donate them to the Smithsonian? vince norris |

I've seen posts here from people in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Can any of them
tell me what draft beers are available in this area that still use the the twin-probe (2-probe or dual probe) such as the Hoff-Stevens twin-probe keg connector? Since Pittsburgh Brewing switched to the the single valve or Sankey type draft beer keg connector (with the exception of Augustiner Dark, I understand), are there any others beside Straub that still use the two-prong? |

Fewer all the time, Tom. Yuengling has switched to Sankey, Rolling Rock did years ago, even most of the micros are now going to Sankey. Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I saw a NEW Hoff-Stevens keg. A lot of them are being retro-fitted as Sankeys (a keg's usually good for 35-40 years, so it makes sense to do it). I think Yards still does Hoff-Stevens...and Weyerbacher, maybe. Don't know about Penn, I doubt it. Sorry I can't be more definitive about it. -- Lew Bryson www.LewBryson.com Author of "New York Breweries" and "Pennsylvania Breweries," 2nd ed., both available at www.amazon.com The Hotmail address on this post is for newsgroups only: I don't check it, or respond to it. Vince, there are SO damned many of these taps around...you should just leave them lying around on the sidewalk! -- Lew Bryson www.LewBryson.com Author of "New York Breweries" and "Pennsylvania Breweries," 2nd ed., both available at www.amazon.com The Hotmail address on this post is for newsgroups only: I don't check it, or respond to it.
