Default UK lager advert question...

Hi,

Trying to discover the name of the lager advertised on T.V. in the mid to
late 70's in the UK that used a rewording of an old drinking song that
mentions "Abdul Abulbul Amir" & "Ivan Skavinsky Skavar" as the lyric.

Any ideas...

TIA

Yes, I remember the ad... Can't remember what it was for though :-)
This is the old story with beer advertising (at least in the UK), the
ads are much, much better than the beers they're promoting.

Best regards, Paul

Whitbread Best, mmmmmm...... That's an interesting site. It's a pity
they don't have the extremely unfortunate 'Watch the pounds drop away
with Ayds' ad from the 70s (Ayds was a brand of diet biscuits which
disappeared in the early 80s for some reason).

Best regards, Paul

Here in The States the slogan was "Ayds: the natural way to lose
weight."

The John Smiths advert with the performing dog is on the same site, and
many other non-beery classics.
