They do still own the "Courage" labels, right? They're not even
mentioned on the site. Maybe the brand went elsewhere after the last
big shuffle in the UK, when Coors bought Bass, etc.?

I've no idea about US availability, but if I was going to go to the
trouble of shipping a load of casks across the Atlantic, I'd find some
more characterful beers :-)

Wish my local had Tim Taylor's Landlord on cask. Yummmm. Gotta get back to
the UK on business / beer hunting again.

The Courage cask beers Best Bitter and Directors Bitter are still
brewed by Scottish Courage and are quite widely available in Britain,
though the old Courage brewery in Reading is long closed.

....along with the breweries in London and Bristol.
I think it all comes from Tadcaster now.

A canned version of Directors is also available and sold in supermarkets.

And a bottled version of Directors, as well.

No, it all happened when Interbrew bought Bass and Whitbread, ScotCo was
never involved in that particular deal.
'Tis about at the same time they took up the brewing side of french
foodie group BSN Danone, that is, Kronenbourg and Alken-Maes

But to add to the confusion, Coors later did buy the Bass Burton
brewery (& excellent Museum Brewery) from Interbrew IIRC after the
Govt's Trade&Industry Dept told Interbrew they had to sell.

(follow the links to find the beer at UKP75.00 a pint!)

For now Coors contract brew Draught Bass for Interbrew at Burton, but
rumours abound as to what will happen when this contract ends (next
year or 2 IIRC)
cheers
