Hello All:
Call me disgusting if you have to, but I think Crazy Ed's Chili Beer is GREAT--especially with Mexican Food. Unfortunately, where I live (Oregon), it is no longer available, as no distributor carries it. There used to be a small craft brewer in Portland that occasionally brewed a similar product called, "Jalapa" (from "Jalapeno"), but that is impossible to find also. Does anyone know of another brewing firm that brews a Jalapeno or Chili Beer? I'd like to get my hands on some for a Mexican Food party I'm throwing for a friend's birthday. Please help if you can! --Guy Thurston, Oregon |

Why don't you just learn to brew your own beer? Then you can make your own chili-flavored beer and won't be dependent on whatever is on store shelves. |

Nitpick: chili is the red meat sauce so beloved in Texas (and other parts), chile is a pepper such as a jalapeno. Crazy Ed's is out of business. Rogue makes Chipotle Ale, a nicely balanced reddish ale with signature Rogue malt and hop flavors. The chipotle is fairly subtle and really works well - lends a nice smokiness. Also, many brewpubs make a chile beer from time to time - check around. They almost always have growlers or kegs to go. _Randal |

I bet you can still find it here and there though. :-) Or I'm thinking of Cave Creek maybe; is it the same thing? If not, there's another possibility. I was going to recommend this one myself... It's not HOT like Cave Creek, but rather smoky, ish, like Randal says. It's nice. Also, many brewpubs make a chile beer from time to time - check around. I can't even recall who made it. -- //*================================================= ===============++ || Russ Perry Jr 2175 S Tonne Dr #114 Arlington Hts IL 60005 || || 847-952-9729 VIDEOGAME COLLECTOR! || ++================================================ ================*// |
