Default Lump in Round Rock?

I live up in the Round Rock, TX area (north Austin suburb) and am
curious to find a good, nearby source for quality lump. There used to
be a barbecue place in La Frontera that carried Ozark Oak, which I
really liked. But now they're gone & I'm going to Barbecues Galore in
the Arboretum area for their stuff. I'm not very fond of it because
the pieces very greatly in size, it produces too much waste to quickly
and the last quarter of the bags are unusable gravel. I've tried B&B
that Whole Foods carries & wasn't as happy with it as I was with Ozark
Oak. They have BGE brand (I think), but haven't tried it because of
the price.

So instead of looking throughout Austin for good lump, I was wondering
if I'm missing out on some in the Round Rock area that I should try
out. Any suggestions?

Go to HEB's Central Market and get some B&B lump. You can't go wrong.

Not sure if you have a Fiesta in your area but if you do check them out.
I get (small) bags of PICNIC brand lump at my local (Houston) store
and it's OK. I don't have a lot of things to compare it to, not a lot
of experience, but as I remember, PICNIC got a pretty good review on The
Naked Whiz.

Also check WalMart.

BBQ Outfitters on RR620, immediately after the intersection w 2222,
carries Ozark Oak. They also have a good selection of hardwoods.

I think you need to give B&B another shot. The last few bags I've
picked up at Central Market have been excellent, though I can't
say that they've all been like that in the past.

CM keeps theirs on the same pallets that they're shipped on to
reduce handling and breakage.

What was it you didn't like about B&B? It's perfect lump when
it's chunky.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, Barbecues Galore is the place that left La
Frontera. What I liked about that Ozark Oak is that the pieces were
mostly uniform and they burned really well.

It's been a while since I've tried B&B - I last got it from the HEB
Plus out on 79, but the last time I was there (about a month or so),
they weren't carrying it anymore. But when I tried it last, it popped
& crackled a lot & shot embers out periodically. There also seemed to
be a great deal of unusable gravel at the bottom of the bag. Maybe I
should give B&B from CM a try & see if I get different results.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

The first time I read the subject line I could have sworn it said round
rocks in lump.

Makes me wonder how they got the name "Pflugerville" (just

with such an atrocious name.

If you think that's bad, try Blue Ball, PA!

We have a place called "Dildo" in Newfoundland. It's out by Heart's Content
and but a little further away from Heart's Desire.

That would depend if I was mowing their actual lawn or mowing their

That's so ... Kevin. First you criticize everybody for engaging
in a "lame" thread, and then you contribute to it, both in the
same post.

Like I said (again), you're the inspiration for hypocrites

My friend Wertz, I have to wonder why you bother, although I hasten to

"Danked," the past participle of "dank", is used to refer to someone
who replies to his own post on an online forum posing as another person
(see "Internet sock puppet") but forgetting to change his username . . . .
This was an act of stupidity meriting a name of its own, and because the hapless
contributor's username was Danks, the term "dank" or "danked" emerged.

Fortunately, A.R.K. threads' titles have no bearing on the posts at
all. Unfortunately, a.f.b. posters are strict literalists.

Unfortunate for them, when scanning ARK's threads; we, of course, know
that "Kreuger's a Dork" in a.f.b. won't deviate from the unbearable
dankness of being.
