Default Char-Broil Cooking Zone Burner Heat

We have a 4 year old Char-Broil Cooking Zone (Model 46390.94) on which
we have never been able to get the gas flame to burn hot enough (i.e.,
blue flame) to do a really good job of barbequeing. I've tried
everything in the owner's manual to improve the flame quality with zero
point nothing improvement. I replaced the burner with a kit bought
from grillparts.com and replaced it as per the owner's manual and got
no improvement. Do any of you have any suggestions on how I can get
more air into the burner tube in order to get a hotter flame (I presume
that is the problem).

Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.

sounds like you might be turning the propane gas valve on too fast.
it has a little rubber ball inside that will shoot up and block the
flow drastically unless it is turned on verrrryyy
slooowwwly....what you are suggesting is indicative of that
problem...maybe others but that is one..

Yes, wonderful, but did Lee get his problem solved, was it the
flame quality or the news reader text? I forget?

Kevin, Sorry for the belated reply....
Your suggestion about turning the tank-valve on very slowly was a good
one. By doing that, I, for the first time, got a blue flame to use for
barbequeing this holiday period. Oh how nice it is for something to
cook quickly, rather than so slow it was almost painful!
Thanks for your suggestion. It was a good one.
