Default Best natural gas grills (to supplement my WSM)

I have a Weber Genesis that's close to 15 years and looks it.
WSM is my primary cooker, but I do use the Genesis for side dishes.

I haven't kept up with the new gas grill offerings. Ducane is out of
business I heard.
My friend has a very expensive Viking that he hates. What is the best
grill out there now in the $1000-$1500 price range? (My wife likes the
stainless steel look, but I just want something that can get very hot
and doesn't flare up too much).

Thanks
'Ron

I too have a Genesis that works, and is OK.
If I were looking, I would try to look at direct infrared gas grills, like
TEC. I know nothing other than they are hot, and they can sear a steak the
same way charcoal does. They seem to be a bit pricey.
If anyone has personal experience with an infrared gas grill, I would
certainly like to hear what he/she has to say.

Hi Ron,

Well, Ducane IS still out there but to the extent it once was. Weber bought
them out and they still make some decent basic cast alum grills, but also
have licensed the name for some China-made SS ones sold at Lowe's and
elsewhere. Can't vouch for the quality. I DID pick up an old USA-made Ducane
SS grill on ebay 3 months ago and am very happy with it so far.

As for new grills, hard to go wrong with a Weber Summit in that price range
although it is not the hottest grill around. You might want to look at a
Broilmasteror maybe even one of the SS grills that have an IR burner. No
personal experience.

A good place to get the latest info (recently updated) is at bbq.about.com .
