Hey, Bubba!

You are such a snot! (Grin) Best I've seen in SC has been $1.28/lb for
the last 1-1/2 years!

I've given up on .99/lb meat such as I could always find back in Indiana.

I'm really happy for ya! (Gag!) (LOL)

I feel your pain! Been pretty much the same here in Florida...beef's
outta sight. And check this out: another supermarket in town (Publix)
is advertising "Boneless" brisket, on sale.....only $3.79/lb!!! I'm
still trying to figure that one out!

What I can't figure out is this, where I live in SC. The entire region
is covered with cow herds! Just about everyone raises cows, for beef.
Yet I can go to the Chicago region and pick up beef and pork for next to
nothing!?

Chicago is one of the major meatpacking centers in the world. Chances
are, your Carolina beef is being shipped to windy city, processed, and
shipped back to you....and you pay for the round trip fare!
You might look into CSA (community supported agriculture) in your area.
Most of the programs in N. Florida are for produce, (we have one that
does ducks) but you just might stumble across someone that will sell you
some home grown, locally processed animal flesh.

Well that answers my question, I live up north of you and was going to
road-trip down to check the prices there. The best I've found in this area
(Bellingham Wa.) is $1.78/lb at a restaurant supply meat company.
Albertson's will surprise me sometimes with $1.49/lb (select grade).
