Default Prime Rib Eye

I bought two prime rib eye steaks today and when I went to pay it was
only $21.00. Usually its around $30.00 so I asked " why so cheep?" She
said they were on sale for $11.95 lb. and if I wanted to buy a whole
roast it is $9.95 lb. I usually only treat myself to steaks from this
place two or three times a year but I am considering buying a roast,
cutting into steaks, and freezing. Will freezing degrade the flavor or
texture and is $9.95 a good price for unbelievably delicious prime
steaks? -RP

If I could get honest to goodness prime ribeye steaks for 9.95, I'd take out
a bank loan to fill up the freezer. You're not talking about the generic
"prime rib" roast are you? If so, it is no big deal.

At BJ's I can buy CAB choice boneless rib roast for about $6 to $7. I lose
maybe 10% when I trim it, but most of the trimming go into hamburger along
with chuck. The same piece of meat in the supermarket brings $11 to $13.

Freezing will cause a very slight loss. Done right with a vacuum sealer, it
will keep for 2 years in the freezer. We had the CAB rib eye steaks
tonight. Thawed them on the countertop, seasoned, grilled. Fantastic.
