I really want to buy a komodo grill and try smoking various foods as
well as enjoying seared steaks. My problem is that I just can't find
any source for lump charcoal. Whole Foods is coming, but apparently
their lump is less than ideal.

I don't mind driving to get some good lump if it's a reliable source.
Can anyone help?

Duhg,

Duhyou mind saying *where* you are? You can drive to Ocala and get plenty
of good lump, but then if you live in Bimiji, that might not work too well
for ya.

Gosh, Jack, I guess you just weren't paying attention to where the header
says "Sarasota". Cut the guy some slack instead of looking for an excuse to
pounce.

He's in Sarasota. Duhg, you can get all the lump you want in Tampa at
the "Outdoor Kitchen Store". First block west of Dale Mabry on Kennedy
Blvd, north side of the street. They sell BGE and Gourmet, both of which
I think come from Royal Oak in Ocala. The Gourmet is $14 and change.
The BGE is quite a bit more expensive. Both come in 40# bags.

The Doitbest hardware chain provides Royal Oak lump. You can go to the
website and http://doitbest.com and see if there is a store near you. If
that store doesn't stock it, they will usually order it for you.

i've been buying lump at some of the local brazilian butcher shops in broward
county. it's a little pricier than the whole foods variety but not a stick of
furniture.
